The 2020 edition of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez took place from September 26th to October 9th.
And this year marked an unusual edition, with both a new organization over the 2-week period, and the pandemic hindering all international travel.
Despite the health context and the restrictions in force, nothing could spoil the conviviality and good humor on the quays of Saint-Tropez.
Motivated as never before, following the cancellation of the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo, 15 CNB yachts had decided to compete at Saint-Tropez. The organizers had even granted us a CNB yacht builders class, but unfortunately COVID would get the better of this great enthusiasm.
Four valiant CNB yacht crews did manage to compete in the IR3 class however.
The weather conditions alternated between strong and calm winds and allowed for 3 days of racing.
At the end of a faultless week it was Criollos
who won the IR3 class, followed closely by the formidable Mr Beelzebuth
from the Arcachon region, a previous winner of the CNB Rendez-vous on the island of Elba
A torn spinnaker and an error on the course helped the already excellent performance of Criollos in the light airs, and it was the latter who won!
Nina was ambushed with 11 points as well as Aloha, who put in a credible performance, and her elegant silhouette still made a big impression.
There was plenty of atmosphere despite the diminished participation, and our owners were able to benefit from the quai d’honneur, a first for CNB yacht builders.
There was no reception at the Hotel de Paris this year but well-deserved drinks were enjoyed after so much effort.
The program for forthcoming events is still uncertain but as soon as we get a little bit of peace from this virus, we’ll be deploying all our energy to offer you other playgrounds to meet your expectations.
Congratulations again to all the participants!
